The Leadership Impact Award honors Program Directors and Associate Program Directors who, while driving continuous improvement and innovation within their residency or fellowship programs, extend their influence far beyond the University of Iowa.
This institutional award recognizes individuals whose national contributions have significantly advanced graduate medical education (GME). Whether through scholarly work that originates locally and resonates nationally, or through leadership roles that shape the broader GME landscape, these efforts exemplify the reach and relevance of Iowa’s educational leadership. Nominations may be submitted by the candidates themselves or by Department Chairs and Vice Chairs of Education, and must highlight impactful national contributions—such as excellence in GME scholarship or leadership—that have influenced GME at other institutions. This award celebrates the power of local innovation to inspire national progress and underscores the University of Iowa’s commitment to excellence in medical education.
