The Excellence in Interprofessional Education Award honors non-physician health care team members who play a vital role in shaping the clinical education of resident and fellow physicians.

Recognizing that outstanding interprofessional collaboration is essential to developing the next generation of exemplary physicians, this institutional award allows Program Directors to formally acknowledge colleagues whose expertise and commitment significantly enhance the learning environment. Each department may nominate one non-physician team member who consistently contributes to the educational mission. Nominations must include a letter from the core residency Program Director or Vice-Chair of Education detailing the nominee’s impact on interprofessional education and clinical practice, along with endorsement comments from three residents or fellows reflecting on their personal growth through the nominee’s mentorship. Final selections will be made by the GMEC’s Teaching Awards Committee, which anticipates recognizing 3–4 individuals for their exceptional contributions this year.
